VA Wildlife Removal recently responded to a call that the homeowner was hearing scratching in the attic. Upon arrival and inspection of the attic, we found that there were a family of squirrels that had chewed through the front left corner of the home that gave them attic access. The squirrels had two nest which were intended for their young. Also upon further inspection we found numerous electrical wires that had been chewed by the squirrels which causes a fire hazard and informed the homeowner.The damage repair consisted of, of course removal of the squirrels and the nest. At that time VA Wildlife Removal removed the front gutters and installed new gutter seal along entire front of home to insure any other entry or possible damage from squirrels or other wildlife. Even though this homeowner lived in an upscale home squirrels do not discriminate. Raccoon Removal in Alexandria, Virginia

Just recently at VA Wildlife Removal we responded to a call in Alexandria. Once we arrived and after inspection of the attic, the raccoon had entered the attic through the home owners attic fan. After further inspection the raccoon was found in the far left corner of the attic and removed with our animal snare, which is very humane and does not harm the animal in any way. After the raccoon was removed we assessed the damage that was caused by the raccoon which was total infestation of feces and urine throughout the homeowners attic.
The homeowner agreed that the damage needed to be corrected. At that time VA Wildlife Removal removed all animal damaged insulation, disinfected entire attic and installed new R-38 insulation to code. Job completed, homeowner happy, and another day completed and everyone happy except the raccoon. He was evicted!

How to prevent squirrels from invading your home

It’s no doubt that squirrels are fun loving creatures, but as cute as they are they can quickly become nuisance animals. Squirrels can invade your home and cause hundreds of dollars worth of damage. While they can cause damage to electrical wiring, siding, trim and shred insulation in your home, they can also carry parasites. These parasites such as ringworm, fleas, mites, ticks, and others can be easily transmitted to people to. The goal of every homeowner should be to identify potential problems and fix them before they happen.So how do you go about squirrel proofing your home? The key is to make your home less attractive to the squirrels. If you make your home less convenient to them they’ll look elsewhere. Start off by finding and identifying any entryway into your home that a squirrel might use. Look for holes that squirrels might enlarge, overlapping sections of roofs, and gaps under eaves. Cover these holes with mesh hardware cloth.
